Zacary Chedin (Chair of The Board)

A little bit about myself
I am 25 years old and married to my lovely wife, Mercedes Michel. We are also proud pet owners of two very friendly short-haired Chihuahuas. My wife and I have been attending Tribes Church in Victoria Park. For work, I’m a Manager at Wesbest Property Service, in charge of leading employees and admin rostering. I have been with the company since 2017 after graduating school.
On the side, I’m also a drum music teacher. I’ve been teaching since 2021, and extremely passionate about music. I’ve had the privilege of being part of many worship teams and am blessed to play with talented musicians on stage, creating connections on the way for serving at many campuses around Perth.
I've played for Perth Redbacks and at Wesley College during my high school years from 2012 to 2016/17, and continued to play socially at the Victoria Park Men’s A League until now. I can’t wait to meet all of you during the season and truly appreciate all the support and love!
History
This all started in 2019 when I began doing regular 6 a.m. training sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings to improve my basketball skills. Over time, I gradually invited friends from church, old school friends from Wesley, and new friends I met on the courts in Victoria Park.
These training sessions birthed a small Christian basketball community group in Victoria Park, which had 15 people showing up for full-court games on Friday mornings. As the training grew, I knew that there are many others out there who were also looking for a basketball league to be created that involves faith in God and a relationship with each other.
The Purpose of this League
I want to see a unified community in Basketball that puts faith first, not focusing on wins or losses, titles, trophies, or even minutes played, but on building Godly relationships with people they’ve never met before, both on and off the court. I want to see progression in people skills and spiritual growth, on and off the court.
Imagine this: You met someone while training and invited them to CBL, and they begin to ask how this started or even get more involved in the team. You can share your passion for God through relationships, connection, and a good sport. Being able to disciple on and off the court, building their faith and yours. That is the heart of CBL and why it’s based on its mission purpose.
Jevaan Davies (Director)

I am 21 years old and currently attending Nations Church in Myaree. I currently work as a Support worker, a Building site laborer, and a Footlocker employee. I’m also doing my bachelor's degree in Primary Education at Curtin University.
I was born and raised in a Basketball home and played a couple of seasons of WABL with the Perry Lakes Hawks during my high school years.
I truly believe Perth has a huge basketball culture around it, especially within the church circles. I believe it’s a sport that so many people, of so many backgrounds can enjoy and be a part of, and I think this league will play such a crucial part in forming many new friendships, and communities and most importantly, seeing those who don’t know God and faith encounter him in such a real way through the amazing people we have in our church communities at these games. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this league and that God has his hand over it at all times!
Lucas Czarjan Requiero (Director)

My name is Lucas, also known as Jan, and I’m 19 years old. I attend Kingdomcity Midland and I am currently studying Psychology at Curtin University as I have a strong interest in understanding human behavior and helping others. I am currently working as a team leader in Lost Reality, which is an escape room.
Basketball has been a significant part of my life. I played WABL throughout high school with Kalamunda Eastern Suns and participated in Manila Live in 2024.
I’m excited for what God has planned for this tournament. The goal is to share Christ through basketball, I’m excited to make new friendships and connections. What better way than gathering everyone who loves hooping and sharing the gospel to those who don’t know?d
Terry Caldon (Director)

My name is Terry Caldon, and I currently attend Tribes Church in Victoria Park. I’ve been around the game of basketball for several years, essentially first getting introduced to it at Wesley College through the PSA competition. After that, I played WABL for a few seasons, and now I’m part of the Rockingham Flames NBL1 program.
I also recently graduated from University, where I studied Sport Science and Management, which aligned with my passion for the game and gave me a deeper understanding of the principles surrounding the life of an athlete. Outside of these endeavours I currently work as a draftsperson and tutor.
Most importantly, I’m excited for the commencement of this league, as I believe it will be a great opportunity for the body of Christ in Perth to come together and fellowship. Additionally, I believe that this league will be a great avenue to create positive change in the broader community by sharing our faith with people who may have never experienced God’s love before.

Full-Court Tech Support
I’m a software engineer, Tribes Church attendee, and older but shorter :( brother of Terry. I handle the tech side of things, trying to keep the stats up to date - so for any tech related queries, let me know.
It is pretty cool to see the league grow from some late night fat chats with the boys and I'm excited to see the connections made over basketball and faith.
